What did we set out to do?

  •         Build ‘communities of enquiry’ amongst teachers of Geography from 12 South Yorkshire Primary Schools to explore and clarify the links between global issues, geography, historical, geographical and social understanding and cross-curricular studies in the new National Curriculum.
  •          Develop a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) module, ‘The Global Dimension and Geography’ to be hosted on the Geographical Association website and will be accessed directly by 12 teachers, and shared with 160 others in South Yorkshire and elsewhere.
  •         Build ‘communities of enquiry’ amongst 300 Young Geographer’s in South Yorkshire Primary Schools, starting from children’s everyday geographical experience to connect with global issues.
  •          Work closely with the Geographical Association, teacher training institutions and universities in Sheffield to extend the project and strengthen its academic base.
